Abstract

Collection consists primarily of papers of James Marshall, lawyer of Winchester, Va., and a nephew of Chief Justice John Marshall (1755- 1835), concerning Marshall family land dealings in Fauquier County, Va., and conflicting claims to land in the former Northern Neck Proprietary of Virginia. Includes correspondence of Marshall, along with deeds and other land records, in part concerning "Leeds Manor," Fauquier County, Va.
